The Use Of Ephedra Supplements.
Each year, increasing numbers of people around the world are becoming overweight; this is also becoming a major health problem for young people with increasing numbers affected by heart conditions. Eventually a decision to do something about the excess weight must be made and those that are serious about it will finally realize that you cannot use short-term methods. Losing fat should be viewed as a long-term health benefit and the use of ephedra supplements to help accelerate the process is not necessarily the best course of action.
These supplements work in a variety of ways but mainly they try to fool the brain into thinking the stomach is full and increase the person's metabolism. That was all well and good until the point where more research had concluded that there was an increased risk of heart valve disease and as a consequence the first issue of ephedra supplements were withdrawn. More recently, new supplements have been developed and prescribed by doctors and dieticians; many of which are still waiting for FDA approval.
Most people have known friends or family members who have tried using ephedra supplements and have seen tremendous improvement. To many it is a wonder supplement and let's be honest, if you could lose fat that easily without having to sacrifice too much in the process, you would take them as well. The ephedra supplement manufacturers have spent a huge sum on research but this cannot be compared to the amount spent by consumers.
Even with all the testing and new techniques available for manufacturers, many side effects like nausea and diarrhoea still exist with the new generation of ephedra supplements which, incidentally, can still be purchased over the counter. You must check the packet carefully before you decide to use them.
Of course, many factors can affect the type and severity of problems like family history, weight, age and lifestyle; this is why it is so important to see the doctor before starting a course of supplements; should you decide to stop taking the treatment, other side effects can occur as a result. The side effects experienced by users of ephedra supplements can include noticeable mood swings, hyper-activity, stomach pains, insomnia, nightmares, severe irritability, and extreme fatigue.
Whilst the effectiveness of these ephedra supplements are not in question, they are more effective if they are used alongside a controlled diet and exercise regime. This type of diet requires a balance of the food groups to ensure a proper intake of vitamins, minerals and fibre with a quality protein source, almost all of which can be bought at your local supermarket but may require a little preparation.
Exercising will need to be carried out if you want to benefit from the healthy food option but this probably needs to be worked out in advance with your physician. The best exercise plans should have cardiovascular and weight training exercises as this helps burn calories and increase the muscle to fat ratio that will increase a person's metabolism and assist with fat loss.
