The Use Of Fat Loss Supplements.


As the world's population continues to increase, the problem of obesity also increases; the worrying factor is that school children are also affected by this, according to recent studies. In order to lose those excess pounds, many people resort to surgery whereas other people realize that a healthy diet with regular exercise is a better method. If surgery isn't bad enough, increasing numbers of overweight people start to take fat loss supplement as a fast and relatively inexpensive way to shed excess fat.

The process is relatively simple as the supplement act upon the brain's own chemical, serotonin, fooling the brain into believing it's not hungry and at the same time increasing the body's metabolism. It was only after the discovery that the first generation fat loss supplements that came out had side effects and were related to heart valve disease that they were taken off the shelves. More recently, new fat loss supplements have been developed and prescribed by health care professionals; many of which are still waiting for FDA approval.

You may in fact know someone who has used these fat loss supplements at some time and has first hand experience of how effective they can be. For to many it is a wonder drug and let's be honest, if you could lose fat that easily without having to sacrifice anything in the process, you would take them as well. This approach has seen consumers spend millions of dollars every year and has generated huge profits for the supplement companies who manufacture and sell the fat loss supplement.

The more recent fat loss supplements can be prescribed by your doctor, dietician or purchased in a health food store and despite the advances made in the supplement manufacture, there are still dangers including nervous tension and stomach problems. You must check the bottle carefully before you decide to use them.

It is always a good idea to see your doctor first before you take any course of fat loss supplement; this can lower the possibility of some side effects occurring, although this may depend on the genetic makeup of the person using them. Other problems may also occur when the supplements are discontinued. Problems like depression, nausea, bad mood swings, nightmares, and insomnia for example have all been reported when a person has stopped taking the fat loss supplement.

Whilst the effectiveness of these fat loss supplements is not in question, they are more effective if they are used alongside a controlled diet and exercise regime. The type of balanced food groups would be whole grain oats, low G.I. Cereals, brown or basmati rice, sweet potatoes with fruit and vegetables as the best source of minerals, fibre and vitamins taken with a protein source like lean beef, turkey, fish or chicken. It is also important to eat smaller meals more frequently throughout the day then to ingest larger meals less frequently, as this will increase your metabolism.

A person can jog every morning or sign up and workout in a gym but just as a person should consult a doctor before taking medicines, a doctor should also be consulted prior to undertaking any form of exercise. Of course a good exercise regime will combine exercises that increase the heart rate and exercises that use weights to tone the muscles. A regime of this kind would increase an individual's metabolic rate.
